At The Atelier with Altaaf Al Thunayan

With our 'At The Atelier with' series, our favourite style connoisseurs take us behind-the-scenes of their jewellery collection, their passion for discovering jewels and why they love Majorel Atelier.

Meet Altaaf Al Thunayan

First and Last Name: Altaaf Al Thunayan

Occupation: Owner of @Maisonakw Event Planner

What is your own favourite piece of jewellery, and why?: I couldn’t say that I have one favourite as every piece of jewellery I have has a special memory and evokes a certain feeling when I wear it.

Can you describe a cherished memory connected to jewellery?: When I was born my father gifted a beautiful bracelet to my mother; it has 3 sapphire stones to represent my two older sisters and myself. For me this piece has great sentimental value for this reason.

What does jewellery mean to you?: I believe there is a power and an energy associated with jewellery. Whether the piece is luxurious and embellished or the simplest of designs they can evoke powerful memories and feelings. Whenever jewellery is gifted the memories and feelings are evoked not only in the wearer but also in the giver. For many people they symbolise different stages of their life or significant life events and will be treasured for a lifetime for that reason.

How do you use jewellery - do you have a daily uniform, do you wear special pieces for events, is it embellishment, minimalist or something else?: My choice usually depends on my mood and how a piece makes me feel. The feelings that you get from a cherished piece of jewellery can empower and energise.

What is your favourite jewellery piece from Majorel Atelier?: The “Octogone” ring really appeals to me as it combines my love of geometry with rhodium, modern and striking combination.
